For most clubs, schools and event organisers, a 50mm medal is the practical all-round choice, while a 70mm medal creates a larger, more substantial presentation for finals, special achievements and premium awards. The best size depends on the occasion, the number required, the artwork and how you want the award to feel when presented.

| Visual impact | Compact and versatile | Larger display area and stronger presentation presence |

When should you choose a 50mm personalised medal?
A 50mm medal is usually the most flexible option. It is large enough to feel like a proper award but compact enough for team presentations, school competitions, grading events and tournaments where many recipients are being recognised.
Choose 50mm medals when you want a consistent award across several age groups or categories. Simple club crests, event logos and short wording normally reproduce clearly at this size. You can browse our personalised medal range to compare available designs and finishes.
When does a 70mm medal make more sense?
A 70mm medal is a strong choice when the award needs extra visual impact. Clubs and promoters often use larger medals for champions, tournament finalists, milestone achievements or headline categories while using smaller medals for wider participation.
The larger format may also give a detailed logo more breathing room, although the printable area depends on the individual medal design. Always check the stated product dimensions and personalisation options before ordering.
How personalisation works
Engraving wording
We do not impose a fixed character limit. However, the more wording you add, the smaller the engraved text becomes. Around three or four words spread over up to three lines usually gives a clear result. If the requested wording is likely to become illegible, we will contact you.
Logo and artwork files
Please upload your logo as a JPEG or PDF. What you send is what we print, so artwork should be ready to use. If a logo needs redesigning, cleaning up or adding to, please ask your graphic designer to prepare the finished file before submitting it.
Medal dimensions
Sizes are approximate. Where a height is stated for a trophy or award, it is measured from the bottom of the plinth to the tallest point. Medal dimensions refer to the medal itself unless the product description says otherwise.
How to order medals for a club or event
- Decide how many awards you need and whether every recipient will receive the same size.
- Choose the medal design, finish and ribbon option shown on the product page.
- Prepare final engraving wording and print-ready JPEG or PDF logo artwork.
- Add the required presentation date to the order notes if timing is important.
- After ordering, call the office on 01384 639999 so we are aware of a fixed event deadline.
We aim to dispatch orders within one week, but during busy periods this can take up to two weeks. Production time and carrier delivery time are separate, so order as early as possible when your presentation date is fixed.
Bulk medal orders and bespoke requirements
Promoters, clubs and organisations planning larger orders can request a bulk quotation. We can also discuss bespoke medals where standard products are not suitable. Send the quantity, event date, preferred size, artwork and personalisation requirements through our Club Awards quotation form.
Frequently asked questions
Are 50mm medals suitable for junior teams?
Yes. A 50mm medal is a popular all-round size for junior teams, schools, grading groups and participation awards because it offers a clear presentation without being oversized.
Are 70mm medals only for winners?
No. A 70mm medal can be used for any category, but its larger format is especially effective for finals, special achievements and awards intended to stand out.
Can every medal have different engraving?
Personalisation options vary by product. Check the individual product page and enter the required wording carefully. For complex team lists or larger quantities, contact us before ordering so the requirements can be reviewed.
Can I use my club logo?
Yes, on products that offer custom logo personalisation. Supply a finished JPEG or PDF and check the product page for the available print area and ordering options.
How early should I place an order?
Order as early as practical. We aim to dispatch within one week, but busy periods can extend production to two weeks. Add your presentation date to the notes and call the office when the deadline is fixed.
