The London Marathon
The London Marathon was established 34 years ago on the 29th March 1981. The 35th London Marathon, or Virgin Money London Marathon at it is known now, is set to take place on the 26th April 2015. The course is 26.2 miles and takes you past some of London’s greatest attractions and features many professional and amateur athletes along with those running for charity.
The event has grown to at a great pace. Back in its infancy saw 6.255 participants finish the race where now over 36,000 participants cross that line. For many, it’s all about raising money for charity, where nowadays a staggering £45million is raised with each race. For the serious athletes there’s the race records currently held by Wilson Kipsang with 2hrs 4mins and 29 seconds and Paula Radcliffe with 2hrs 15mins and 25 seconds.
