What is Chess Boxing?

Chess boxing is a hybrid sport that combines the strategic game of chess with the physical intensity of boxing. It consists of alternating rounds of speed chess and boxing, testing both the mind and body of the competitors.

How It Works:

  • A match consists of 11 alternating rounds: 6 rounds of chess and 5 rounds of boxing.
  • Each round lasts 3 minutes.
  • The match starts with a round of chess, followed by a round of boxing, and continues in this pattern.
  • Competitors have a total of 9 minutes on their chess clock.
  • The match can be won by checkmate, knockout, technical knockout (TKO), or time expiration in chess.

Ways to Win:

  1. Checkmate – If a player checkmates their opponent during a chess round, they win.
  2. Knockout (KO) or TKO – If a boxer knocks out their opponent in a boxing round, they win.
  3. Time Expiration – If a player runs out of time in chess, they lose.
  4. Referee Stoppage – If a competitor cannot continue due to injury or exhaustion, they lose.
